Intermediate CAD Design Technologist
The opportunity
Associated Engineering, a proudly Canadian, employee-owned Company is seeking an experienced and dedicated Intermediate CAD Design Technologist to join our team in our Markham office. The successful candidate will have 5+ years of relevant experience and work in the Infrastructure Division on municipal projects including roads, watermain, sanitary sewers, and storm system designs. The role will also include supporting civil infrastructure design on facilities projects for our Water and Buildings Divisions. Working with a dynamic team in a collaborative work environment, the Intermediate CAD Design Technologist will be based out of Markham but may be expected to collaborate with our other offices in Ontario and across the practice on occasion. This position is a full-time position.

What you’ll do
- Preparing project drawings and executing designs through the interpretation of design criteria and information provided by engineers and senior designers for road reconstruction and linear infrastructure projects.
- As an intermediate designer some design tasks will be expected under the guidance of an Engineer.
- Site inspection, fieldwork and surveys may be required from time to time.
- Delivering production work in accordance with company technical, quality and operating procedures.
- Providing support to other members of the team.
- Providing support with respect to a range of activities including both technical and non-technical tasks related to engineering design and construction as well as project management, marketing, and business development.
- Delivering projects on budget and within identified schedules or deadlines.
- Engaging in a collaborative work environment with your team, as well as other disciplines and offices.
Health & Safety Responsibilities:
- Ensure adherence to established policies and procedures within a COR registered environment.
- Follow all safety and non-safety rules and regulations.
- Review and adhere to AE’s health and safety, environmental, and quality standards, operating procedures and policies.
- Understand and uphold the policies that prohibit workplace violence and harassment.
- Perform regular formal or informal workplace inspections.
- Enforce safety rules and correct unsafe acts or conditions.
- Report all accident and / or incident procedures and unsafe conditions and / or behavior to supervisor immediately.
- Respond or delegate responsibility immediately to items brought to his / her attention with respect to hazards, defects or non-compliance issues.
- In addition to the above, the duties include those specified under the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
Does this sound like you?
- Diploma in Engineering Technology from an accredited post-secondary institution.
- Certification with OACETT (C.E.T. or C.Tech.) is an asset.
- 5+ year of progressive civil design experience in municipal Infrastructure projects with work in Ontario being an asset.
- Multi-discipline design experience and project delivery coordination is an asset.
- Familiarity with applicable local municipal design codes, OTM manuals and TAC design Manual is an asset.
- Be proficient in the use of Civil 3D
- Demonstrated experience with latest version of AutoCAD.
- Experience in Bentley products would also be an asset
- Experience working for a consulting engineering firm is an asset.
- Experience with coordinating CAD production activities and inputs from multiple team members is an asset.
- Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
